Spring Break 2010

We planned to visit our good friends, the Jenkins, in Colorado during our spring break. Due to illness we decided to not risk their health and stay closer to home. We ended up taking a shorter trip to Omaha to check out the zoo.

The trip started with a bang...literally. Bryce banged into a table with his lip while we were eating dinner in Marysville. For a few minutes we thought we may have to find a doctor for stitches but he recovered and we stopped the bleeding!
The kids insisted that we swim immediately when we got to the hotel and although they were exhausted they couldn't fall asleep! The highlights of the hotel were of course the pool and that they got to watch Noggin (kids channel on TV)!

Bryce did a few push ups to get ready for our adventure at the zoo!
The beginning of our adventure at the zoo was pretty cold, but there are a lot of indoor exhibits so we were only cold in between buildings. Plus we came prepared!!

This is the kids in the Desert Dome. It was really cool!

The basement level of the Desert Dome had nocturnal creatures and a really life like swamp area which was Andy and Drew's favorite part. It was kind of scary but I do admit that it was pretty neat!

The next picture is for Mrs. Shepek. Grace's teacher did a unit on penguins this year and as soon as we saw the penguins at the zoo Grace had to take a picture for Mrs. Shepek.

The kids sat in this bubble and penguins would swim right up next to them.

The Aquarium was amazing at the zoo. Our favorite part was the tunnel that you could walk through and have the animals swim all around us. Drew really wanted to see the shark and sharks we saw!!

We packed a picnic lunch and headed to the car to warm up and take off some layers!

After lunch we did the Cat Complex, the Orangutans, the insects and butterflys, the jungle, and the Bears...and the kids pretending to be bears!

Last we visited the giraffes and the statue outside the giraffes that was surrounded by rocks. It is amazing what is entertaining to kids!!

Bryce's favorite part of the zoo was this old jeep that was set up for the kids to play with. He screamed bloody murder when we made him stop driving this!! The trip ended with two more swimming adventures and the ride home. It wasn't the vacation we planned but we had so much fun and we even got to relax a little!!
